**Transforming Journey Into Destination.**

Travel is changing. For premium brands, the destination is no longer the only emotional payoff. The journey itself has become part of the experience people remember, share and choose brands by. SWISS, Switzerland’s national airline and a member of the Lufthansa Group, is synonymous with precision, quality and understated luxury. But in an increasingly culture led category, those attributes alone risked feeling distant rather than desirable. Following a challenging spring and summer for the aviation industry, SWISS needed to reconnect emotionally with UK audiences ahead of the critical winter ski season, and do so in a way that felt human, immersive and unmistakably premium. As part of SWISS’ mid funnel winter campaign, Fellow Partners was tasked with creating a flagship brand activation. Something people could immerse themselves in, not just see. The objective was to inspire consideration for Switzerland as a winter destination while reframing SWISS as the airline that takes care of every detail, including your ski equipment. The challenge was to transform a rational product message into a cultural and sensory experience that could compete with airlines embedding themselves in lifestyle and culture. By doing so, SWISS could remind people that their holiday begins not at the mountain, but the moment they choose to fly SWISS.

Winter is SWISS’ most competitive season. Flights peak, ski routes are crowded and airline messaging converges around similar functional promises. While free ski and snowboard carriage is a genuine point of difference, our research showed it needed emotional amplification to stand out.

Our exploration into the future of travel branding revealed a clear opportunity. Brands that create sensory and culturally fluent experiences build stronger memory, loyalty and intent. Immersive brand experiences consistently outperform traditional advertising, with participants far more likely to return after a compelling encounter. At the same time, audiences are increasingly drawn to brands that reflect their taste, identity and cultural worldview.

We explored the evolving cultural meaning of skiing, no longer just an elite pursuit but a space where wellness, fashion, nostalgia and lifestyle intersect. From mountainwear’s influence on street culture to the rituals of après ski and chalet kitsch, skiing has become an aesthetic and emotional shorthand rather than purely a sport.

In parallel, we examined air travel itself. Where flying once symbolised optimism and progress, it is now often treated as a functional inconvenience. This tension between what flying used to feel like and what it has become revealed a powerful opportunity for SWISS to re elevate the journey and restore a sense of occasion, care and quiet luxury at the heart of travel.

Our task was to translate these insights into an idea that felt culturally resonant, emotionally generous and unmistakably SWISS.

We explored multiple creative routes, from gamified activations inspired by ski culture to wellness led pre travel rituals and reimagined airline lounges that echoed the glamour of aviation’s golden age. What united these ideas was a desire to reposition SWISS as the skiers’ airline, a mindful premium host that understands the emotional rhythm of winter travel.

The route we aligned on became Summit Lounge. A sky high brand experience inspired by the elegance of historic first class airline lounges, fused with contemporary cultural references to skiing and modern travel aesthetics. It reframed flying not as a means to an end, but as a moment of elevation, physically, emotionally and mentally.

Visually and tonally, the concept drew from a resurgence of early 2000s optimism in culture. Airlines once symbolised globalism and aspiration. Summit Lounge reclaimed that symbolism for a new generation, offering nostalgia for some and discovery for others.

The experience was designed as a transition from city to mountain, from noise to calm and from everyday to exceptional. A love letter to seasoned skiers and an accessible invitation to those yet to fall in love with winter travel.

Summit Lounge was developed as a fully immersive brand world, balancing SWISS’ signature restraint with moments of warmth, texture and delight.

We drew directly from SWISS’ existing lounge environments, translating their material language into an ephemeral activation space. Natural woods, warm reds and forest greens were paired with modernist furniture, clean white architectural elements and subtle illumination. Clear acrylic and soft backlighting introduced a contemporary edge, while references to airport signage and infrastructure grounded the experience firmly in the language of travel.

The experience was structured as a deliberate journey. Guests moved through four stages, check in, pre flight lounge, ascent and après ski resolution. Each moment was designed to deepen immersion, anticipation and emotional payoff.

Battersea Power Station’s Chimney Lift became the experiential centrepiece. Rising 109 metres above London, it offered a literal and metaphorical elevation, transforming ascent into a moment of awe. Working closely with venue partners and spatial designers, we tailored the experience flow to the architecture, ensuring every transition felt intentional and seamless.

Sound, scent and motion were treated as design materials in their own right, carefully choreographed to reinforce calm, care and quiet luxury throughout.

Summit Lounge launched as a cultural moment within SWISS’ wider winter campaign, fully integrated into the brand’s mid funnel strategy.

Guests entered through a dedicated check in experience complete with SWISS hospitality and campaign visuals that signalled arrival into a different world. A private security style transition marked the shift from curiosity to immersion. Inside the pre flight lounge, guests explored Swiss hospitality through curated refreshments, a ski themed photobooth and a bespoke soundtrack inspired by Montreux Jazz Festival.

The ascent itself was the emotional climax. Inside the lift, guests were enveloped in cinematic alpine visuals, ASMR inspired sound design and a warm ambient glow. An experience engineered to induce calm, wonder and memorability. At the summit, London’s skyline became the backdrop for a moment of weightlessness rarely associated with air travel.

The descent concluded with a tactile reminder of SWISS care, Swiss chocolate, branded artefacts and a transition into an après ski chalet experience created in collaboration with Tourism Switzerland.

Summit Lounge reframed SWISS not simply as an airline, but as a brand that understands the emotional architecture of travel. Proving that when the journey is designed with intent, it becomes part of the destination.
